At the start of year, we embark on the fresh challenge of raising the £10 million which is needed to maintain our lifesaving operations across the six Midlands counties. By joining us this year for our Airbase Challenge you will be directly supporting the work we do every day attending to critically ill or injured patients.
Taking part in the Airbase Challenge is easy. Choose one of four distances – 27, 40, 54 or 121 miles – and complete your chosen mileage within 30 days. The distances have been chosen as they represent the miles between each of our three airbases:
Tatenhill to RAF Cosford: 27 miles – route Helimed09
RAF Cosford to Strensham: 40 miles – route Helimed03
Strensham to Tatenhill: 54 miles – route Helimed06
Or you can take on the Helicopter Challenger, the full 121 miles, which is the distance between all three airbases as the helicopter flies.
Once you know your distance, decide whether to walk, run, swim, cycle (or a combination of) to achieve your chosen mileage within 30 days.
You can take part as an individual or as a team of up to four. There’s no age limit and you don’t have to be together to undertake your mission, just log your miles as you go using your own fitness tracker or our handy form found (which will be in your Welcome Pack).
The cost to take part is just:
£5 – individuals
£10 for a team of up to four people
If you raise £75 in donations as an individual, or £100 as a team, you will receive a medal to remember your achievement.
We encourage everyone who takes part to fundraise to help us undertake further missions and give patients the best possible chance of survival or recovery.
Fundraising for us could not be easier.
1. Set up a Just Giving page and link it to our Airbase Challenge 2022 page: www.justgiving.com/campaign/AirbaseChallenge2022
2. Or raise funds offline by using the sponsorship form in the email welcome pack. When you’ve completed your mission, you can send a cheque and the form in to us.
3. You can do a combination of online and offline fundraising – just be sure to tell us the full amount you’ve raised so we can add it to your participant certificate(s) and thank you letter.
