PEDESTRIAN AIRLIFTED FROM HEREFORD RTC Thursday 30th March 2017 – 3.00pm

A pedestrian has been seriously injured after a collision with a lorry in Hereford Town Centre this afternoon.

A passing ambulance came across the incident near Wall Street in Hereford shortly after 3.00pm (Thursday) and immediately called the Trust’s control room to advise them of the collision.  A second ambulance, a paramedic area support officer, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham and a second air ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor on board attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was fully conscious following the collision but was trapped underneath the lorry. Ambulance staff assessed the man and found he had suffered serious injuries to his abdomen, back and feet. Whilst ambulance staff administered treatment to the man, the fire service worked to release him. 

“The man was stabilised before being taken by land ambulance to the awaiting helicopter, which had landed at nearby Hereford Football Club, before being airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.”
