A man needed speedy trauma care after he ended up trapped beneath a trailer following a collision in Staffordshire this afternoon.
The incident happened near to Marchington Industrial Estate on the B5017 Stubby Lane in Marchington, Staffordshire shortly before 1.00pm (Friday). An ambulance, a community paramedic, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulances from Tatenhill and Cosford with critical care paramedics and a MERIT trauma doctor on board were sent to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The cyclist, a man believed to be in his 60s, had to be released from beneath the trailer by the fire service. The team of ambulance staff worked quickly to do a top to toe assessment on the man who was found with multiple serious injuries.
“The man received treatment on the scene which included advanced pain relief and oxygen therapy. Ambulance staff carefully immobilised the man to help stabilise his injuries before he was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further trauma care.”
