A man has died following a three-vehicle collision in South Staffordshire yesterday.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Watling Street in Weeford, near Lichfield, at 4.43pm and sent three ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Critical Care Car to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Upon arrival crews found three vehicles that had been in collision, a pick-up truck, a lorry and a tractor.
“The driver of the pick-up truck, a man, was found to be in a critical condition and was already receiving basic life support from bystanders, including colleagues from the fire service.
“Ambulance staff quickly began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“A woman, who was hit by debris from the collision, was treated for minor injuries before being taken to Good Hope Hospital.
“The lorry driver, a man, was assessed and discharged at the scene whilst the tractor driver did not wish to be assessed.”
