Location: M6 southbound between junction 16 and 15 near Newcastle-under-Lyme

Date and time: Feb 27, 9:55 PM, 2025

One person has died and a second has been taken to hospital following a collision between a car and a lorry, last night (27th).

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the M6 southbound between junction 16 and 15 near Newcastle-under-Lyme at 9.55pm and sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer, a BASICS emergency doctor, a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic and the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Critical Care Car from Cosford to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman said: “On arrival crews found two men. The first patient, the driver of the lorry, was found in a critical condition and sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him, and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“The second patient, the driver of the car, was treated for potentially serious injuries before being conveyed under blue lights and sirens to Royal Stoke University Hospital.”
