A woman has been airlifted to a major trauma centre after being involved in a road traffic collision in Stoke-on-Trent earlier today.
West Midlands Ambulance Service received a 999 call reporting a collision involving a van and a pedestrian on Tesco car park on Baths Road in Longton at 11.48am this morning. An ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Helicopter from Cosford with a Doctor and Critical Care Paramedics on board attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Tesco staff and an off-duty nurse were caring for the female pedestrian when ambulance staff arrived on scene.
“The team of ambulance staff administered trauma care to the woman who was in a serious condition. Once stabilised, the woman was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further emergency care.”
