Barmy Ball Looks To Raise Thousands For MAAC

Wednesday 25th July 2018

A group of local cyclists are hosting a fun-filled evening for the benefit of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

Taking place on Saturday 24th November at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill, and hosted by snooker legend and commentator Willie Thorne, the black-tie occasion will have a live band, DJ, auction and raffle with the aim of creating a memorable evening and raising funds for the life-saving charity.

Following the success of their first ball last year, where over £14,000 was raised for the charity, the Barmy Team has again organised the event in the hope that last year’s total can be beaten.

Martin Whelan, Barmy Ball organiser, said: “Last year, the evening was such a success that it made sense to come back this year with a bigger and better event. Already tickets are selling fast, which is why we’ve launched the event now, and I can’t wait to see how the night goes as we raise funds for such a worthy cause.”

Adam Williams, corporate development executive for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, added: “It’s fantastic that this brilliant event is taking place for a second time, after it was such a success last year.

“The charity is so grateful for events like this, where such an incredible amount is raised. Each year over £9million has to be raised to keep the charity running, so an evening such as this is a massive support.”

Willie Thorne, host for the evening and snooker legend, also said: “I’m so pleased to be hosting the Barmy Ball this year, it’s going to be so much fun for a very worthwhile cause. I’ve been a long-time supporter of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and I can’t wait to see how much of a success the evening is.”

Margot James, MP for Stourbridge, concluded: “I’m so pleased to be able to support the Barmy Ball. Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s offices are within my constituency and itis such a worthy cause, saving so many lives each year across our region. Each mission costs on average £2,500, so an event such as this will definitely be a big help, as well as a brilliant night out for everyone who attends.”
