On Friday 5th May, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and special guests were given exclusive access to Cheltenham Racecourse’s finale and only-evening fixture of the season, which helped fund 30 lifesaving missions.
The Hunter Chase event saw an evening of owners, amateur jockeys and trainers competing for the ultimate prize; winning at the Home of Jump Racing. The charity and its partners’ hospitality tickets included entry into Cheltenham Racecourse and the National Hunt restaurant, with a post-race DJ set from BBC Radio 1’s Jordan North.
Special guests who attended in support of the charity included experts from Jonjo O’Neill Racing, alongside former professional footballer and charity ambassador, Marlon Harewood.
The Jockey Club were also kind enough to allow guests the opportunity to have photos taken with the coveted Boodles Cheltenham Gold cup.
Ticket sales for the event as well as fundraising on the night raised over £15,500 for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s advanced pre-hospital emergency service, funding 30 lifesaving missions carried out by the charity’s air ambulances and critical care cars.
Pam Hodgetts, corporate partnerships manager at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to The Jockey Club for providing us the exclusive opportunity to be the chosen charity at Cheltenham’s season finale, we are thrilled to see that the event has raised an incredible amount for our lifesaving service.
“We are the primary air ambulance service in north Gloucestershire, where our crew of highly skilled critical care clinicians are called out to one horse-related incident a week. Corporate events such as this are extremely valuable in funding future missions across the region. Thanks to everyone that came to support and made the event a great success.”
