Cheltenham’s Season Finale Raises More Than £18,000 For Midlands Air Ambulance Charity

Thursday 13th June 2024

On Friday 3rd May, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and special guests were given exclusive access to Cheltenham Racecourse’s finale and only-evening fixture of the season, the Hunter Chase, which helped fund 36 lifesaving missions.

The Hunter Chase event saw an evening of owners, amateur jockeys and trainers competing for the ultimate prize, winning at the Home of Jump Racing. Hospitality tickets for the exclusive evening included entry into Cheltenham Racecourse and the National Hunt restaurant, with a post-race afterparty with live entertainment and DJ set from Capital FM’s Chris Stark.

Ticket sales for the event as well as fundraising on the night raised more than £18,000 for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s advanced pre-hospital emergency service, funding 36 lifesaving missions carried out by the charity’s three air ambulances and fleet of critical care cars.

Pam Hodgetts, corporate partnerships manager at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to The Jockey Club for continuing to gift this fixture to the charity as a fundraising opportunity. This was the third year of the partnership, making the event a staple of our fundraising calendar. With Cheltenham’s help, it continues to develop year on year and we are thrilled to see what an incredible amount was raised for our lifesaving service.

“We are the primary air ambulance service in north Gloucestershire, where our crew of highly skilled critical care clinicians are called out to one horse-related incident a week. Corporate events such as this are extremely valuable in funding future missions across the region. Thanks to everyone that came to support and made the event a great success.”
