Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s biggest ever raffle prize, a Land Rover Defender, now has a new owner, and helped raise a staggering £45,500 for the lifesaving service.

Mr Brian Hodgetts from Alcester in Warwickshire was chosen at random as the winner of the first prize – a 2014 Land Rover Defender.

Brian is a long-term supporter of the charity and a dedicated fan of Land Rovers. He was delighted to have won the car which was originally donated to Midlands Air Ambulance Charity by Jaguar Land Rover ten years ago. It has served the charity well over the past decade as it has been used to collect donations and transport vital blood products to locations across the charity’s six-county operating patch.

The other prize winners in the raffle include:

  • Will Croxford from Coton Clanford in Staffordshire won the second prize of £500.
  • John Masterson from Horsham in West Sussex won the third prize – a TV worth up to £400.
  • Robert from Droitwich in Worcestershire won the 4th prize of £100, but kindly requested the charity keep £50 as a donation.

The money raised through the raffle will fund 27 lifesaving missions carried out by the charity’s advanced clinical team, 13 by air ambulance and 14 by critical care car.

Emma Wood, head of fundraising and engagement for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity said: “We are so grateful to everyone who took part in our amazing raffle. Every penny raised will ensure we can continue saving lives across the region. We were delighted that Brian and his family were able to come along to our Cosford airbase to see the work that the charity does, meet the critical care teams and collect his prize.”
