Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s Tatenhill Airbase, near Burton-on-Trent, will be opening its hangar doors for the return of its popular and much-loved Open Day event.
The free to attend day opens at 10am on Sunday 2nd July 2023 and will give the public the opportunity to learn more about the lifesaving pre-hospital emergency service’s operations.
The highly skilled critical care paramedics and pre-hospital emergency doctors on-board the charity’s three aircraft and three critical care cars will be giving an insight into the lifesaving work they do across Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, and the wider Midlands region.
Visitors will have the chance to explore the charity's aircraft with the crew, observe demonstrations of lifesaving treatment given at incident scenes, and find out more about Midlands Air Ambulance Charity's valuable work in the local community.
Families will be kept entertained throughout the day with the charity’s helipod, a decommissioned helicopter, fairground rides, merchandise stalls, refreshments and other entertainment.
Representatives from other emergency services including fire, ambulance, police, National Highways, and blood bikes will also be in attendance, demonstrating their contribution to keeping local communities safe.
The charity is also asking for people to bring along donations of pre-loved goods on the day, that can then be sold on in one of its seven high street shops, one of which is in nearby Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Emma Wood, head of fundraising and engagement for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: "Whether you're keen to learn more about our lifesaving work across the region and get up close and personal with one of our helicopters, or just want a good old-fashioned day out, it promises to be a great event for the whole family. The open day is free to attend but any money that visitors donate on the day will help make future lifesaving missions possible."
