Ahead of Volunteers’ Week 2018 which takes place 1st -7th June, we have looked at four benefits of volunteering for a charity.
1. Learn new skills
Volunteering in our charity shops is great work experience, and can be a stepping-stone into full-time employment.
Volunteering at events can improve your organisation and people skills, as well as improving your confidence.
2. Make friends and meet new people
Volunteering for a charity can provide many opportunities for socialising and making new friends.
Whether it’s meeting fellow volunteers whilst helping out in our charity shops, or sharing a cup of tea with the aircrew at charity events, there’s plenty of chances to strike up a conversation.
3. Improve your mental wellbeing
Having a focus or hobby, socialising and being outdoors are all positive steps towards improving your mental wellbeing.
Volunteering can help you do all of these things, at a time and location to suit you
4. Be part of a team
Our volunteers are all part of the MAAC family and are invited to volunteers’ meetings, luncheons and Christmas get-togethers.
They’re the first to know our latest news and updates and can visit our airbases to take a closer look at the aircraft and learn more about the lifesaving service.
